In tonight’s game against the Indiana Pacers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Boston Celtics’ star Jayson Tatum‘s playing status remains uncertain. The Celtics aim to continue their winning momentum after a convincing 126-97 victory over the Utah Jazz on Friday.
According to the latest update from ESPN’s injury report, Tatum is expected to take the court against the Pacers. Throughout the current season, Tatum has maintained good health, sitting out only two of the 34 games played so far.
While the Celtics secured their recent win without Al Horford, who was rested, his absence underscored the team’s need for healthy big men. Horford has a history of sitting out half of back-to-back games due to his age.
Tatum’s Stellar Stats and Comeback After Ankle Injury
Tatum’s performance has been exceptional this season, making him a key player for the Celtics, who currently boast an NBA-best 27-7 record. Averaging 27.1 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.0 steals per game, Tatum has missed only two games, both due to injuries.
The first instance occurred when Tatum suffered a sprained left ankle during the Celtics’ 132-126 loss to the Golden State Warriors on Dec. 19. Despite playing through the injury, he sat out the following game against the Sacramento Kings. Tatum made a triumphant return on Dec. 23 in a victory over the LA Clippers.
His second absence was on Dec. 29 against the Toronto Raptors, where he re-aggravated his left ankle injury, resulting in swelling. However, he missed only one game, returning on New Year’s Eve to contribute to a win against the San Antonio Spurs.
