Anthony Edwards Dunks So Hard That His Own Hand Gets Wounded

In the third quarter of Monday night’s 114-104 victory over the Utah Jazz, Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards leaped to his feet and dunkted a vicious play over Jazz forward John Collins. The dunk was so big that it caused pain to his other hand.

While he was about to attempt a free throw after being fouled during the dunk, Edwards also grabbed his left hand, flung the ball down with his right, displayed it to the bench, and trotted into the locker room. Fear not—Edwards returned to the game to attempt the free shot after a brief intermission.

He would have had to sit out the rest of the game if he hadn’t been able to get back in time to make the free throw.

Edwards said that he had dislocated his finger on Bally Sports North following the game.

Furthermore, the Timberwolves really didn’t need another injured player. In addition to losing Karl-Anthony Towns, who is recuperating from a meniscus surgery, they also lost Naz Reid to a head injury during Monday’s game. Reid also had a wild start to the game, scoring 17 points in the first 20 minutes.
