On Wednesday night, the LA Clippers overcame a 20-point deficit to defeat the Houston Rockets 92-66 after falling behind 50-30. Kawhi Leonard, who shot 11/18 from the field and finished with 28 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals, was the Clippers’ rock throughout the contest.
After the game, Leonard addressed the Los Angeles team’s sluggish start on the ESPN broadcast, stating, “We came out very slow pace with no urgency, and we got in the huddle and said let’s pick up our energy.”
The Clippers were able to redouble their effort and pull off an incredible road comeback, appearing like a completely different club in the second half.
By persevering and performing when it mattered most, the Clippers were able to avoid what would have been yet another painful loss.
Paul George finished the half with 21 points on 7/15 from the field, despite only having two points at the half on 1/6 shooting. James Harden, who shot 6/13 from the field to end with 21 points, 7 assists, and 5 rebounds, was also very impressive in the closing minutes.
The Clippers will now open a three-game home stand against the Chicago Bulls on Saturday afternoon before returning to the road for games in Chicago and New Orleans.
