Through the first two rounds of the playoffs this season, the Boston Celtics may have had one of the easiest rides. With a 64-18 regular season record that earned them the top seed in the East, the Celtics proceeded to destroy an eighth-seeded Heat club without Jimmy Butler. In the second round, they easily defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers, who were led by Jarret Allen, Caris LeVert, and Donovan Mitchell at different times.
In Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals, the Celtics have now also defeated a healthy Indiana Pacers club. Call it luck, call it fantastic form.
But with their current in-form roster, commentator Colin Cowherd doesn’t think the Celtics have a chance to establish a dynasty club.
Despite the Celtics’ winning ways this season, Cowherd observed a few inconsistencies with the club. He cited a few of these discrepancies from the team’s Game 1 performances against the Indiana Pacers to bolster his argument. On The Herd Show, Cowherd dismissed Boston’s aspirations to establish a dynasty, saying,
“I want to thank the Celtics for their transparency. If they do win a title this year, no chance at a dynasty.”

Colin Cowherd speaks about Jayson Tatum
Colin Cowherd was particularly troubled by Jayson Tatum‘s lack of consistency during the Celtics’ postseason run. Tatum did not have a field goal or an assist in the last nine minutes of regulation in ECF Game 1, according to the FS1 analyst.
Colin continued, expressing his disappointment,
“In a star-driven league, Tatum not only disappoints, he just disappears, and I have been on this for four years. What is this offense? Where does he go? What is he thinking? To not have an assist?”
The Celtics were then contrasted by Cowherd with this season’s New York Knicks squad. During the regular season and the postseason, the Knicks could rely on Jalen Brunson without worrying that their best player may underperform. On the other side, the star Jayson Tatum proved to be unreliable for the Celtics.
Celtics GM Brad Stevens understood these loopholes in the last off-season and added possibilities like as Kristaps Porziņģis and Jrue Holiday to solve those gaps. Nonetheless, the team’s reflected success during the previous eight years continues to point to an unsolved conflict for Boston. All these difficulties would be justified if this Celtics squad can deliver on the promises it has made thus far.
