Indiana Fever Has One of Their Worst Games of the Season as a Result of Caitlin Clark’s Subpar Performance

Even with Caitlin Clark’s extraordinary talent, the Indiana Fever was unable to win another game this season. The Fever was looking to improve their 3-9 record going into their game against the powerful Connecticut Sun on Monday night. Rather, they discovered that their problems were getting worse.

The Fever were utterly outclassed and ultimately defeated 89-72 in a game that felt even more unfair than the score suggests. The Fever’s difficulties on both sides of the court were highlighted at a moment in the third quarter when they trailed by an incredible 28 points.

A wide-open eight-footer that resulted in an airball was one of Caitlin Clark’s moments that would probably be best forgotten, adding to the team’s misfortunes. The video went viral right away, displaying an unusual error for the usually astute shooter.

The poor performance by Caitlin Clark exposes Fever’s difficulties

Clark finished with 10 points on 3-8 shooting from the field and 2-5 from beyond the arc, which was below her average level of play overall. She made three turnovers, only managed two assists, and did not pull down a single rebound. After just 22 minutes on the floor, her plus-minus rating was an appalling -30.

This underwhelming performance comes after Clark told her coach Christie Sides that her exclusion from Team USA for the Olympics in Paris “woke up a monster.” But rather than a ferocious reaction, Clark and the Fever seemed more meek and outmatched than before.

Against the Mystics, Clark scored her finest game in the WNBA thus far, thirty points, and she had intended to improve on that performance. Now, when the Fever plays the Atlanta Dream at home on Thursday, she and the team will try to find atonement. Is Caitlin Clark able to settle into a rhythm and guide the Fever to a much-needed win?
