“The Roast of Tom Brady” on Netflix was great just the way it was for a lot of people. Fans have started to rethink this position, though, in light of the most recent discovery that Mike Tyson was also supposed to be included in the roast.
The late great NFL commentator Rich Eisen made an appearance on the most recent edition of “Bussin’ with the Boys.” Eisen admitted to the boys that he wasn’t intended to be a part of the roast until he received the contrary information the day before the live filming.
A day prior to the show, the presenter claimed to have received a call from roastmaster Jeff Ross, who gave him the honor of introducing the roast.
Mike Tyson wasn’t missed much in Tom Brady roast
Eisen jumped at the chance, his excitement contagious. But Ross told the presenter straight out that he is their backup plan because the great Mike Tyson had to withdraw at the last minute. Since he was aware that this was “the only time” he would be a backup plan for Mike Tyson, the broadcaster accepted the statement with pride.
All in all, Tyson’s absence went unnoticed since the already impressive roster of superstars performed flawlessly. But one should hold off on thinking about the possibility of Mike Tyson engaging in the fun, since that would have elevated the roast to a new level in terms of popularity and exposure worldwide.
While some might contend that Netflix could have done more to persuade Mike for this reason alone, Nikki Glaser’s interview from several months prior demonstrates that Tyson wasn’t the only well-known figure the show’s creators failed to cast.
