With a decisive 50-point victory over the Philadelphia 76ers tonight, the Boston Celtics extended their winning streak in the preseason. They have a 3-0 preseason record thus far. The 76ers were experimenting with different combinations, but the Celtics seemed to be in the mood to dominate every game.
For the competition, the majority of their top stars were sidelined. Jaylen Brown, though, doesn’t appear to care about the fact. Brown discussed the need of preserving a linear, consistent brand of basketball even before the season starts during the post-game press conference. According to the Celtics star, his squad would not concentrate on the opponent’s rotation.
Jaylen Brown talks about staying disciplined
He reaffirmed that the Boston team will keep playing basketball at their level because it gives them the outcomes they want. Brown informed reporters: “It’s about us, so every time we step out on the floor, it don’t really matter who the opponent is. We just gotta play our standard of basketball. So that’s the tone that we set throughout training camp, and that’s the mindset that we have.”
Jeff Dowtin, Jared McCain, Guerschon Yabusele, Ricky Council IV, and Kenyon Martin Jr. made up the 76ers’ starting lineup. Without guys like Tyrese Maxey, Paul George, and Joel Embiid, most teams would have dismissed that match. However, since winning games is the Celtics’ primary objective, they don’t care about the opposition.
They dominated the game for four quarters after taking the court with their usual starting five. Brown finished with 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists as the game concluded 139-89. Jayson Tatum, who finished with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists, had an excellent game as well. The Celtics’ supporters also recognize the value of their basketball standards.
