A Florida Woman, Katrina Carrillo, 25, Is Accused of Child Abuse as Boy Posts “Help Us” Note

Following a police probe into a disturbing letter scribbled on a sticky note by her boyfriend’s 9-year-old son, a Florida lady is being accused of child abuse.

According to local ABC station WPLG, Katrina Carrillo, 25, was arrested in Miami on Wednesday, April 23 – more than a month after the young boy’s note prompted an inquiry by officials.

According to a police report that WPLG was able to obtain, the child allegedly scrawled the words “please help us” on a pink sticky note on March 4. Then, according to Law & Crime, it was unclear who first discovered the message and where it was left.

The statement prompted the Florida Department of Children and Families to become involved.

The boy reportedly told a forensic interviewer on April 9 that Carrillo beat and pinned him to the ground. According to WPLG, he also reportedly claimed that when she covered his face with a pink blanket and pillow, he “did not feel like he was breathing.”

When PEOPLE asked the Miami Police Department for details on Saturday, April 26, they did not immediately answer.

On April 23, Carrillo first met with officials at the Miami Police Department headquarters. According to documents WPLG was able to collect, she refuted any charges.

According to the site, authorities filed a felony child abuse complaint against the lady, who was then arrested at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County.
