This is one crazy story!
Influencer Christine Connell is claiming that she’s been battling a sinus infection for seven years after her ex-boyfriend released a foul-smell fart in her face. I mean, talk about a toxic relationship!
Christine took to TikTok to share the hilarious yet gross incident with her followers and it’s all over the Internet.
“I couldn’t breathe… it was the worst fart I have ever smelled in my life,” Connell said in the video, which has already drawn hundreds of thousands of views.
At the time, she had just undergone ankle surgery and was recovering in bed when her then-boyfriend, naked and climbing into bed, passed gas directly in front of her face. What followed, she says, was a relentless battle with sinus infections, congestion, and green mucus that lingered for years.
Doctors struggled for years to pinpoint the cause of Connell’s ongoing sinus issues. She visited multiple ear, nose, and throat specialists, yet found no answers until one test finally revealed a surprising culprit: E. coli bacteria living in her sinuses.
“You don’t usually get E. coli in your sinuses… unless your face is in the path of a disgusting fart,” she explained. While Connell admitted the bacteria might have come from her recent surgery, she leaned heavily on her suspicions about the incident in the hotel room. “He got the best break-up revenge,” she joked. “I was immobile and had no choice but to inhale it.”
E. coli typically lives in the intestines and spreads when fecal matter enters the mouth. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the bacteria usually spread through contaminated food, water, or surfaces, not through airborne flatulence. Yet, Connell believes a combination of bad timing, poor health, and sheer misfortune made this rare scenario possible.
“I had just had surgery, so my immune system was already working overtime,” she said. “I think that maybe in another circumstance, like if I had been healthy, it wouldn’t have happened.”
Eventually, Connell’s condition became so persistent that antibiotics stopped working. She now faces surgery to remove infected tissue and fully clean the area. “They’re going to use general anesthesia to go up there and physically scrape off where the bacteria has been,” she said in a follow-up video.
While we can’t confirm the validity of Christine’s story, it’s definitely a cautionary tale to watch out for those toxic exes. And maybe invest in some air freshener while you’re at it!
