The New York Knicks reached the Eastern Conference Finals, but not everyone in New York is pleased — particularly WFAN’s Gregg “Gio” Giannotti. After the Knicks’ season-ending Game 6 defeat to the Indiana Pacers, the sports radio host targeted one of the team’s highest-paid players: Karl-Anthony Towns.
During his broadcast on Monday, Giannotti delivered a harsh evaluation of the 7-foot, 250-pound forward, calling Towns not only disappointing — but a complete liability.
Giannotti stated plainly: “[Towns is] a loser,”. “That is their biggest problem — the guy is a loser. He’s a losing player, he complains, he is soft. He shows you flashes where he’s the best player on the court — but not enough. He doesn’t play enough defense, he bitches and moans. He is, up until this point in his career, a loser who is making $50 million.”
“He’s becoming one of the most frustrating players I’ve ever watched wear the uniform of a team I root for,”. “I know how good he can be, and that’s what makes it so damn annoying. I don’t know if he’ll ever reach that level. I really don’t.”
“The biggest issue the Knicks have moving forward is that they waited and waited to make a big move — and the centerpiece was Karl-Anthony Towns,”. “Now, he’s a logjam. They thought this Towns thing was going to work better than it did. And it hasn’t.”

Towns, who was brought to New York in a major trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves last October, arrived with significant expectations and a $53 million contract for the upcoming 2025-26 season. However, despite his achievements — including five All-Star selections and three All-NBA honors — his performance in the postseason left many fans and analysts feeling let down.
