Basketball Hall of Famer Allen Iverson announced that he has maintained sobriety for six months. During an appearance on CBS Mornings with Maurice DuBois (beginning at the 4:00 mark), Iverson stated that “one of the best choices I ever made in my life” was to stop drinking half a year ago.
Even before the conclusion of Iverson’s NBA career, there were allegations regarding his battles with alcohol.
Back in March 2010, while Stephen A. Smith was still with the Philadelphia Inquirer (as referenced by ESPN.com), numerous individuals within the NBA voiced concern that Iverson “will either drink himself into oblivion or gamble his life away.”
NBA Hall of Famer Allen Iverson was a basketball phenom in the 90s and early 2000s, matching his signature speed and athleticism on the court with his fashion choices, which put him at odds with the league’s commissioner and other players.

Iverson had previously shared with his supporters on social media that he was “experiencing some very tough times” at that point. This message was posted just four days after reports emerged about Iverson’s wife filing for divorce.
Before sharing his six-month sobriety achievement, Iverson mentioned to DuBois that his notorious “practice” tirade “wasn’t amusing” to him at the time due to the personal challenges he was facing.
