When Laken Snelling‘s roommates heard odd sounds coming from her room, they became suspicious and eventually broke in when she was out getting food and found her deceased newborn’s body, according to a report.
An affidavit from the Lexington Police Department claims that Laken’s roommates heard loud noises after she gave birth to the baby just after 4 AM on August 27, according to Lexington, Kentucky local news site LEX18.
At approximately 8:40 AM, according to the police, Snelling informed her roommates that she had passed out early in the morning, which is what caused the loud noises, and she intended to visit a doctor.
Police claim she drove to a university clinic and got dinner from McDonald’s instead of going to her 9:30 AM class, but she didn’t enter the clinic and instead went back to her house, where she was detained.
Her roommates allegedly discovered a “blood-soaked towel on the floor and a plastic bag containing evidence of childbirth” after becoming suspicious of Snelling’s account, according to the police.
Laken’s social media accounts were searched by police, according to reports, and the search turned up “different things pertaining to pregnancy, images of her during labor, photos of her doing things ordinary pregnant women should not be doing, and a concealed or hidden pregnancy.”
