Fans and members of the media have contended that having Shedeur Sanders as QB2 could be harmful to the Browns’ locker room due to his enormous public profile. The quarterback subtly disproved that assertion with one of his actions on Wednesday, even though nothing he did as a rookie while serving as a backup supports that theory.
Sanders made the decision to stay and assist rookie quarterback Taylen Green after the Browns’ first training camp practice, where the conflict between Sanders and Watson took center stage. That doesn’t seem like the behavior of a troublemaker in the locker room.

Before tossing Green the ball for a few more reps, Sanders seemed to be assisting him with his footwork. Green is now at the bottom of the quarterback depth chart after being selected in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
Naturally, Green’s reps are limited as the fourth quarterback. He barely completed five exercises in total between the 7 on 7 and 11 on 11 bouts on Wednesday. Sanders, who was Green’s replacement at the most recent training camp, is the one who can relate to that challenge. Green appears to be learning from the second-year quarterback, who understands what it’s like to have little practice reps while still striving to become better.
