By taking home the ESPYS “Best NFL Player” and “Best Male Athlete” awards, Patrick Mahomes expanded his impressive collection of honors.
Family members of Mahomes, including his mother Randi Mahomes and sister Mia Randall, were present to witness the momentous occurrence on Thursday night. Mahomes was not present at the celebration despite his remarkable double success. The respected coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, Andy Reid, stepped in to represent him.

Mahomes’ victory as the ESPYS “Best NFL Player” was revealed earlier this week. It was disclosed that he also won the “Best Male Athlete” Award at the July 11 event.
Andy Reid’s moving speech for Patrick Mahomes
Coach Andy Reid accepted the prizes on Mahomes’ behalf from the stage while he was not present. Reid received the award on Thursday at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, as shown in an Instagram story posted by Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice.

Speaking passionately on Mahomes’ behalf, Reid thanked all of the supporters and team members who helped make Kansas City a successful franchise. Reid said,
“I’ve been around this kid for few years now,” . “To watch him grow as a football player, as a teammate, as a leader has been phenomenal. But more than that, to watch him grow as a father and as a husband has probably been the best part of that. We’re very lucky to have him in Kansas City.“
Despite not being told why he wasn’t at the ESPYS, Mahomes acknowledged and accepted the trophies on social media after returning from a four-week journey around Europe.
