Welcome back Vince.
I don’t want to be preachy (I am no Ray Lewis), but we can all learn something from Vince Young. Vince was at the top of the mountain and fell and fell hard.
Anytime people are throwing around words like “suicidal” and “mental stability” you know you have hit rock bottom. Even VY himself said he was thinking about quitting.
When you fall that deep you have to make a decision. Are you going to continue to feel sorry for yourself or are you going to dust yourself off and scratch (no I am not talking about Tiger Woods’ wife) and claw your way out of that ditch.
I am happy to report that Vince Young has chose the latter.
I will be the first to admit that I had serious doubts that Vince Young would ever be a productive QB in the NFL. He seemed mentally weak and his QB skills were seriously lacking.
I did not expect much when he finally got his job back.
How bad are you when it takes a team going 0-6 before they decide to put you back in the lineup?
After rolling off four straight wins I was still a little hesitant to say Vince Young was back. He was “managing” the game well, but what would happened if the Titans needed him to win a game with his arm in the 4th quarter?
99 yards later it appears that Vince has turned that corner.
I don’t have a crystal ball, so I can’t tell you if Vince Young is on his way to the Hall of Fame or by this time next year back on the bench. Five games does not make a career, but at least for now the important thing I can say about VY is that he has the mental capacity to be great.
For a quarterback in the NFL that is all you can ask for.
