With his nearly flawless performance on Monday night, Josh Allen cemented the Buffalo Bills‘ offensive dominance with a decisive 47-10 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. With the Jaguars appearing lost from the start, Allen’s excellent management on the field was the highlight of the game, as the Bills cruised to their third consecutive victory of the season.
The Bills offense went into overdrive from the first play and relentlessly pressured Jacksonville’s defense. Josh Allen passed for 247 yards and four touchdowns in the first half while playing almost perfectly. In the meantime, the Jaguars had no responses. They appeared unable to slow down the Bills’ adaptable offense and had trouble stopping Allen, who also added 44 rushing yards to his stat line.

Buffalo quickly took command of the game, winning all five of their first-half drives with touchdowns. They had already scored 34 points by halftime, demonstrating the difference between these two clubs. With key players out of the secondary, the Jaguars defense was ill-prepared to handle Allen’s accurate passing and the Bills’ ability to distribute the ball over the field.
The Bills’ defense was just as important to the rout as their offense, which will rightfully receive most of the attention. Damar Hamlin’s crucial interception of Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence in the second quarter stopped Jacksonville’s momentum. The fumble gave Buffalo the opportunity for their fourth touchdown drive, which further distanced the Jaguars from the game.
The Bills’ attack overwhelms the Jaguars in a record blowout, and Josh Allen bolsters his MVP case
Josh Allen outperformed Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the odds battle on Monday night, further solidifying his MVP chances. This season, his ability to perform well under duress has been a key component, as he leads the league in passing touchdowns while under duress.
Following Ben Roethlisberger’s 2007 performance, he became the first quarterback to score four touchdowns on “Monday Night Football” since then. Another important plot point was the offensive variety of the Bills. Allen’s touchdown receptions with four different receivers demonstrated Buffalo’s depth and offensive coordinator Joe Brady’s desire to include everyone.
With six different Bills players finding the end zone so far this season—more than any other club in the NFL—this balanced offense has been consistent throughout the first portion of the campaign.
From the first drive of the game, Jacksonville’s defense was a complete failure. The Jaguars were vastly outmatched and gave up a franchise-worst 34 points in the first half. The fact that Jacksonville’s secondary is beset by injuries—including to cornerbacks Tyson Campbell and Jarrian Jones—makes their defensive strategies questionable going forward, especially given their incapacity to halt Buffalo’s attack.
The Jaguars were able to muster a few fleeting moments of offensive rhythm, but they were unable to mount any sustained drives.
