New York Jets Almost Bring Female Reporter Ines Sainz to Tears?

The Jets are either going to be:

Deion Sanders

or

Freddie Mitchell

Both were bold, brash and loud, but one could back it up and one was Freddie Mitchell.

The latest in the Jets bravado was hassling a female reporter.  Here are the details from Profootballtalk.com

A female reporter from TV Azteca was present today.  Multiple sources with knowledge of the situation tell us that the Jets responded to her presence by “acting like frat boys.”

Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post made reference to the situation via Twitter on a couple of occasions.  Hubbuch said that defensive backs coach Dennis Thurman was reportedly overthrowing players in drills so that they could “accidentally” run into her.  Hubbuch also says that at one point linebacker Jason Taylor volunteeredto take reps in the drill.

Hubbuch described the scene as “hilarious,” but that sentiment wasn’t universal.  We’re told that the reporter went into the locker room after practice, and that some of the players behaved like construction workers and/or prison inmates.

One source said that defensive tackle Kris Jenkins was the loudest of the bunch, at one point exclaiming “this is our locker room,” as if to justify the conduct.

Some believe that the reporter appeared to be embarrassed, to the point of being close to tears.

I know a lot of females in media and trust me when I tell you they have to deal with a lot, so this isn’t surprising to me. The Jets are really feeling themselves at this point and that is fine if you can back it up on the field.

That is the big question though can they back it up. Rex Ryan is betting on the “if you say it enough they will believe” style of coaching.  It can be effective, but what happens if times get tough?

Only time will tell.

Someone should apologize to the female reporter it is one thing to be confident and a totally other thing just to be jerks. Hopefully it wasn’t as bad as it sounds, but either way an apology should be in order.
