Vilma Defamation Case against Goodell Dismissed in Court

bso vilma case dismissed

Johnathan Vilma’s defamation case against NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has been dismissed in court today.

Today Judge Ginger Berrigan in New Orleans threw out Vilma’s defamation case, ruling in favor of Goodell. Vilma filed suit against the commissioner in the midst of the ‘bountygate’ scandal. Vilma alleged that Goodell made tarnishing and false statements about  him throughout the investigation. The Judge issued the following statement:

‘The Court finds that all of the allegedly offensive statements were made by Goodell as Commissioner of the NFL in conjunction with the investigation resulting in the now well-known discipline against Vilma and others associated with the Saints.”

The lawsuit seemed to be initiated through Vilma’s disdain for Goodell more than anything based in actual fact. Vilma clearly wanted revenge against ‘dictator’ Goodell, so he took this route.

Now that bountygate and now this matter have been resolved it’s best both sides just get back to focusing on the game itself. The NFL is way too swamped with former players filing suit over safety issues to be enthralled in another lengthy court hearing. Move on.
