Marshawn Lynch has quietly gone about his business while the Seattle Seahawks handed out new contracts to Earl Thomas and Richard Sherman.
Lynch still hasn’t broken his silence, and it seems he won’t be showing up to Seahawks activities as well. According to Rand Getlin of Yahoo Sports, the Seahawks are not expecting Lynch to attend the mini-camp next week, and it looks like his contract seems to be the issue.
Lynch is entering the third year of a four-year, $30 million deal and reports suggest the Seahawks have already made preparations to move on from Lynch before the start of the 2015 season.
ESPN is reporting that Lynch wants more upfront money.
“It’s very, very unlikely that Lynch will be there,” a sourcereportedly told ESPN.com’s Terry Blount. “He wants the Seahawks to renegotiate his current contract and provide him with more up-front money.”
The man known as Beast Mode will count for $7 million against the cap this year and $9 million in 2015 if the Seahawks retain him. Running backs simply don’t make that kind of money anymore.
