Artie Lange Wants to Whip His “Slave” Cari Champion; Why ESPN Should Respond

Artie Lange

Artie Lange has been on various ESPN platforms in the past, ESPN claims to care about their employees, so I expect them to address this immediately.

I know Lange is a comedian, but I am just going to come out in say it, there is no way ESPN lets this fly if it was one of their white female anchors or hosts. What Lange said isn’t just disgusting, it is racist and disturbed. Nothing funny about those comments and in a world where if you say anything remotely critical about the Erin Andrews or the Sam Ponders you get immediately reprimanded, I would really like to know how hours have passed and ESPN hasn’t addressed this.

When Stephen A. Smith makes controversial comments even if they have some truth to them he is suspended, when Skip Bayless does the same thing, no one says anything.  Why is that?  I’d like to know why no other blogs who post stories about random people harassing media women every single day haven’t reported on this?

Media people from ESPN, CBS Sports, NBC Sports, SI, FOX Sports, Bleacher Report, Deadspin, HBO, Showtime, and others all follow Artie Lange, why haven’t any of them said anything? Where are their posts? Where are their Tweets?  Where are the companies that employ Lange where is their outrage?

This is a comedian who has routinely appeared on ESPN TV and radio and other sports networks saying he wants to whip a host of one of the biggest shows on ESPN like she was his slave. This is a comedian with a history of drug abuse and addiction living out a slave rape fantasy online. Why is there silence about this? When a comedian made a far more PG joke about Michael Sam I saw it on TMZ within 15 minutes. Don’t tell me that we should just let it go and not give Lange the attention he wants. People only seem to say that about black issues. Black people should always “let it go” or “get over it”, but sorry I am not going to let it go.

Do you think we are naive enough to think that if Lange said that about Linda Cohn ESPN and others wouldn’t do or say something about it?

This isn’t about black and white as much as wanting equality and respect.

Lange should be banned from all sports networks and ESPN should strongly state that anyone disrespecting their employees in such a vile manner will never be allowed on the network no matter if they are a comedian or not. I don’t want to hear it isn’t ESPN place, they are a powerful media company and if they make it clear than anyone who speaks to their employees in this manner will NEVER be allowed on their networks it will send a message that this isn’t ok.

I’ll be waiting for their reply.

*UPDATE*

ESPN has released a statement to BSO:

His comments were reprehensible and no one should be subjected to such hateful language. They objectify and demean one of our valued employees under the thin guise of “comedy” and are offensive to all of us. We will not dignify them with any other comment.
