I know, I know…
Y’all musta forgot….
Former four-division titleholder Roy Jones Jr., the former longtime pound-for-pound king, still has his eye on winning a title in a fifth weight class even though he turned 46 last month and has many calling for his retirement.
But that has not stopped Jones, who will meet Willie Williams in a cruiserweight fight on March 6 at the Cabarrus Arena & Events Center in Concord, North Carolina. Jones said the purpose of the fight, and perhaps another one this summer, is to prepare for what he hopes will be a fall fight against longtime cruiserweight titleholder Marco Huck of Germany.
“What I am doing is staying busy because Marco Huck said he will fight me in the fall,” Jones told ESPN.com on Tuesday. “I ain’t no spring chicken and I need to be properly prepared to fight Huck. If I get that fight it will probably be my last stab at (a world title) and then I’d call it a day. But I want to make sure I am ready as can be.”
The guy he is fighting is 14-8 and has lost 7 of his 10 fights.
