When the news was confirmed by ESPN Indiana Pacers guard Victor Oladipo was traded in a four-team deal, it left a speechless vibe in the city of Indy.
Oladipo was an NBA All-Star during the 2017-18 NBA season averaging 23.1 points per game on 47 percent shooting.
In his final game with two consecutive losses, Oladipo scored 21 points with six steals in a 127-122 loss to the Sacramento Kings.
Oladipo electrified Bankerslife Fieldhouse with game winners and also displaying his “Masked Singer” antics as character Thingamajig.
The stagnant relationship with the front office along with Oladipo’s road to recovery from a 2019 right knee quad injury was the nail in the coffin.
“Houston could also flip Oladipo, who wanted out of Indiana but landed in another place he doesn’t want to be,” O’Connor wrote in his recap of Wednesday’s blockbuster. “League sources say Oladipo still hopes to find himself in Miami.”
With Caris Levert returning to Indiana after drafted by the Pacers as the 20th overall pick in 2016, he provides upside, high volume scoring and long-term health.
