Let me get this out of the way.
I understand that social media doesn’t care about the truth, and social media accounts use that to post things that are either false or manipulate certain things to make you think it is happening in real-time.
Take this quote from Paul Pierce that is circulating on social media.
“If they don’t win this year, LeBron’s not getting any younger, this is going to be a big hit on his legacy,”
“I’ve already said he’s not a top-five player of all-time,” Pierce said. “If the Lakers don’t win a championship, let alone lose in the first round, I don’t want to hear none of this GOAT talk no more.”
If you read that with no context, you would think that Pierce is speaking about LeBron in real-time and talking about this season.
You would be wrong.
This quote is actually from August 19th, 2020, when the Lakers were in the bubble, had lost game 1 to the Blazers, and Pierce was still employed by ESPN and said this on First Take. The Lakers would go on to win the next four games and then win the Bubble title.
No one knows if this is what Pierce feels like today because he is off somewhere smoking weed and hanging with strippers.
It is smart on these social media pages to do things like this because it helps get their followers up and their engagement. Just have to take it with a grain of salt and not real news if you notice it hasn’t been attributed to a source. They have many times re-worded things BSO has reported to either make us look good or bad. It is just part of the game these days.
The jokes were still flying, so flip the pages to check them out if you are interested.
