The New England Patriots are looking to a well-known name to aid with their secondary injury problems.
The Patriots are dealing for Los Angeles Chargers cornerback J.C. Jackson, who played for New England from 2018 to 21 before signing with LA in free agency, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
According to Rapoport, the transaction will be closed by the two clubs trading late-round draft picks.

In his first season with the Patriots, Jackson won a Super Bowl, and in 2021, his last with the team, he was named to the second team All-Pro. Jackson started each of the 17 games that season, recording 58 tackles, eight interceptions, and 23 passes deflected.
He later agreed to a five-year, $82.5 million deal with the Chargers in the offseason of 2022, but injuries limited his debut season with the team to just five games.
Jackson started the first two games of the 2023 season, however he missed Weeks 3 and 4 due to injury. With the Patriots, we’ll see if he can restart his career.
Given that first-round rookie cornerback Christian Gonzalez sustained what may be a season-ending shoulder injury, New England could use him.
