After Dave Portnoy‘s boat drifted out to sea off the coast of Nantucket Island, the Coast Guard was able to save him. A distress flare was lit by the founder of Barstool Sports during the terrifying event on Monday.
A viral video that Portnoy posted revealed that he intended to take his mother out on a boat ride during “heavy winds.” However, when extracting his ship from its buoys, he found that the breakers and engine had died. As the vessel glided past the congested harbor of Nantucket, the 47-year-old let out cries for assistance.

After boarding Portnoy’s boat and calling the coastguard, a woman sailing close by said that “four burly dudes” had arrived. He said in a video :
“[I had] no power, no radio, no anchor, no nothing,”.
“Heavy, heavy, winds. Next thing you know, Captain Dave is lost at sea.
“Your boys almost lost Captain Dave today. Captain Dave was almost lost to Mother Ocean.”
