Josh Allen’s Historically Bad Performance Against Houston Texans Gets Fans Worried

Josh Allen in action for the Bills

Josh Allen’s performance against the Texans was horrendous. I mean, historically bad! And you know what that means – the fans are freaking out despite his injury.

I don’t know what got into Josh, but he couldn’t complete a pass to save his life. His accuracy was all over the place, and he kept making poor decisions with the ball. It was like watching a train wreck in slow motion.

Now, I know every player has their off days, but this was on a whole new level. The fans had high hopes for Allen this season, especially after his impressive showing in the previous games. But this performance against the Texans has left them seriously worried.

It took a last-second field goal for the Houston Texans to secure a 23-20 victory over the Buffalo Bills, but Buffalo’s best player had a one of the worst performances of his career. Josh Allen completed 30% (9-for-30) of his passes Sunday, something that no NFL quarterback has done since 1992.

The last time a quarterback threw 30 passes and had a 30% completion rate or less in a game was Seattle Seahawks quarterback Stan Gelbaugh in Week 15 of the 1992 season. He completed 9-of-31 passes for 66 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions in a 20-17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Gelbaugh started 12 times in his career, going 1-11 in those games.

Allen has never completed less than 40% of his passes in a game before Sunday’s against Houston. The next worst completion percentage of his career came in the first game of his rookie season. He completed 6-of-15 passes (40%) for 74 yards. The only time the Texans held a quarterback under 50% completions under DeMeco Ryans is against Anthony Richardson in Week 1 of this season.

Allen was only sacked once Sunday, but Houston pressured the Bills quarterback often. He resorted to scrambling, which is usually his strong suit. But his leading receiver Khalil Shakir was injured, and other than a 49-yard touchdown from Keon Coleman, his pass catchers didn’t help him much.

So, here we are – fans anxiously waiting to see if Allen can rise above this setback and show us what he’s truly capable of. And until he does, the worry and uncertainty will continue to linger in the hearts of the fans.
