A female prison guard Megann Gibson got caught for having phone relations with an inmate. Talk about a scandal!
This story is wild! You wouldn’t think someone working in a prison would risk it all for some phone calls, but hey, people do crazy things sometimes. Can you imagine the drama that must’ve gone down when this all came to light?
Megann Gibson, 26, also allowed the unidentified convict into restricted areas of the prison and visited his home address, prosecutors told the judge at Leeds Crown Court in West Yorkshire, northwest England.
Gibson, who pleaded guilty to misconduct in public and possession of cannabis, will be sentenced in August and has been warned she faces a prison sentence, The Telegraph reported.
She engaged in an “inappropriate relationship” with the inmate, including having “sexual communications via telephone,” while she was working at HM Prison Wealstun in West Yorkshire, according to the charges against her.
She also texted the inmate’s mother more than 900 times, reportedly in a bid to stay in contact with him.
Gibson was undergoing assessment for mental health conditions, including PTSD, linked to a previous relationship, at the time of her fling with the inmate; her plea hearing was told.
She was released on unconditional bail but warned that her offense was a “serious matter” by the judge.
“You may well be serving a prison sentence,” the judge told Gibson, who lives with her mom and sister in a Leeds suburb.
Gibson has been suspended by Wealstun, a Category C prison that houses lower-risk inmates.
I guess love knows no bounds. Or maybe it was just a case of bad judgment. Either way, Megann definitely got caught red-handed. Let this be a lesson to anyone thinking about crossing that line – it’s just not worth it!
