Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks managed to make headlines this week without even stepping onto the court. The veteran swingman, sidelined by a core injury, received a technical foul while sitting in street clothes during the Suns’ 118-107 loss to the Golden State Warriors.
The call came midway through the fourth quarter after Brooks exchanged words with an official from the sideline. Isaiah Livers tried to cover Brooks’ mouth to stop him from getting a technical foul.

Brooks’ technical came at a crucial time. The Sun’s were closing the gap in the game, and the foul halted any momentum. The Warriors’ bench then outscored Sun’s by a wide margin, sealing the win.

After the game, Brooks admitted fault. Brooks later offered an apology in the locker room, calling his action “selfish” and promising to refocus.
Suns star Devin Booker addressed the incident post-game: “Just in general, any 4th quarter techs, whether you’re playing or not, you should just try to stay away from. He addressed the team. Said it was selfish. We move forward.”
