Babysitter Hailey Hedspeth Arrested For Giving Teen Brothers an STD

A 34-year-old woman faces multiple felony charges for allegedly sexually abusing two brothers she babysat over a six-year period, with court documents revealing a family divide that delayed the investigation for years.

Hailey Hedspeth was charged with two counts of continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14, a first-degree felony, and two counts of sexual assault of a child aged 14 to 17, a second-degree felony, according to records filed in Harris County District Court. The alleged abuse occurred between 2017 and 2023, when the victims were 11 and 13 years old, and involved incidents ranging from inappropriate touching to intercourse, investigators said.

The case came to light in 2023 when one of the boys disclosed the abuse to his mother, who wanted to press charges, court documents state. However, the father did not support pursuing the matter, leading authorities to pause the investigation at the family’s request. The probe was reopened in 2025 after the mother contacted investigators to move forward, resulting in Hedspeth’s charges.

Hedspeth denied the allegations during an initial interview, claiming the accusations stemmed from her having an affair with the victims’ father, according to investigators. Court records also allege that Hedspeth transmitted a sexually transmitted disease to one of the boys. One victim reported significant emotional trauma, including dropping out of high school, as a result of the abuse.

Hedspeth made her first court appearance this week and is scheduled to return March 11. Authorities have not released additional details on the father’s reluctance or the family’s current status.

The charges highlight ongoing concerns about child safety in caregiving roles, with experts noting that delayed reporting can complicate prosecutions but does not diminish the validity of allegations.
