Conor McGregor just formally announced his much anticipated return to the octagon on January 18th 2020 at the T-Mobile arena in Las Vegas. Against who is the million dollar question.
I would like to announce the return of The Notorious Conor McGregor will take place on January 18 in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada,” McGregor said.
McGregor told sources,
That is my comeback fight. It’s 12 weeks this Saturday. I’m in prime physical condition. I have agreed the date with the company.
As far as the opponent, I have the opponent’s name, but for me, the game I am in and from experience, if I was to give you people the name, which I would love to do, I know the UFC would flip it because they’re a crafty company.”
By his remarks it seems as if the UFC and Conor are still at odds due to McGregor’s recent antics outside of the octagon.
McGregor continued stating,
“I don’t give a f*ck who the opponent is.” Jan. 18 fight will be “the beginning of my season”
Conor is out in Russia promoting his self brand Whisky, when he spoke to media members on his next fight according to TMZ. It’s been rumored that a trilogy fight with Nate Diaz has been in the works which would be entertaining to say the least.
Speaking of beginning of his season, the man himself says,
“I will then look to compete against the winner of Nate Diaz vs. Jorge Masvidal for the Bad MotherF*cker title. Obviously, I have history with Nate Diaz, we are set to make the trilogy bout, so we will see how that goes.”
“Then I will seek [a] Moscow bout and it will be against the winner of Tony Ferguson and . Khabib Nurmagomedov.”
Conor did happen to address the notions of him not being completely focused outside of the ring due to his legal woes, and disputes with fans. The Irishman just cant stay out of the news and has been at odds with Dana White over his transgressions.
What are his plans for 2020?
“I will then look to compete against the winner of Nate Diaz vs. Jorge Masvidal for the Bad MotherF*cker title. Obviously, I have history with Nate Diaz, we are set to make the trilogy bout, so we will see how that goes.”
“Then I will seek [a] Moscow bout and it will be against the winner of Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov.”
“The people of the world deserve this bout to take place. It is an inevitable rematch. It is a rematch that I will come in sharp, fresh, I will have no injuries, I will have no alcohol, I will have no outside influences, I will be fully focused — exactly what the people deserve. Exactly what the fans deserve, and we will settle it once for all.”
The biggest question still remains who will Conor step in the Octagon against? He refuses to announce the opponents name and is basically demanding the UFC to name his opponent. UFC President Dana White has yet to comment.
Is this a case of Conor calling the shots and the UFC following suit?
We know regardless of who his challenger is, Conor will draw the crowds and masses of media. Whether you agree with his antics and legal issues, you are going to tune in whether you like the guy or not.
