Jaylen Brown is comforting a young Boston Celtics fan who was left distraught by the startling news that he was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers.
Giovanni Jean, a 6-year-old from Randolph, Massachusetts, wearing Brown’s No. 7 jersey, was seen crying in a video that his parents uploaded to Instagram on Wednesday night.
In the video, his mother queries: “Why are you sad?”
Gio replied: “Because Jaylen Brown got traded,”
Additionally, he created a sign that read:
“I love you JB. Come back one day.”
“I love you so much”. “You mean a lot to me and you are my favorite player in the whole NBA. And thank you for everything that you did with the Celtics.”
The video gathered up over 9 million views in less than a day. Brown’s attention was quickly drawn to it.
Brown added a heart emoji to his writing: “It’s ok lil bro,” “we will always be friends.”
Actress Jennifer Coolidge, a native of Norwell, also commented on the viral tweet. In return for Brown, the 2024 NBA Finals MVP, the Celtics acquired two first-round picks, two second-round picks, and 36-year-old Paul George.
Many Celtics supporters are incensed about the deal, despite the fact that there was a lot of conjecture this offseason regarding Brown’s future in Boston.
